I'm not sure I understand how McCain's honor plays into anything with regard the the issues expressed in Chris's review of the debates. Of course Obama wants to grow the government! He's a democrat -- that's what they do: more welfare programs and government-sponsored free for alls. Current administration not included, Republicans generally say "little government." And of course McCain would express his profound and deep abiding respect for the military -- he's an ex-military Republican -- its what they do! What I gathered from this whole process is that each team is pretty much sticking to the status quo. You can't hate a candidate because he is doing exactly what his party is known for -- and you can't know a candidate by what he says during a debate.

(sorry for my tardy response)

One thing I wish McCain would have done was to just say, "Yes," when Tom Brokaw asked whether or not Russia is still the Evil Empire. Obama used many more words to answer the question, never really giving any answer in the end, and if McCain just said, "Yes," I think that would have gone far because, to me, it would have essentially said that despite all of Obama's flowery rhetoric, he still cannot answer a simple question.

Wow...well said, indeed!

Maybe I should move to South Carolina. I mean, sure, there's Lindsey Graham, but over there, only one of the senators is a fraud.

Notice that the term “best” does not mean “painless”.

You know...I see this as even more proof that Phil Gramm was correct in his assessment in America having become "a nation of whiners".

I wonder what it would take for an independent commission to be held with the ability to put people under oath—people like Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and Barack Obama; all three of them are partially responsible for this economic situation: Frank and Dodd as committee chairs who helped prop up their friends' businesses and Obama for earlier suing those businesses for not giving home loans to those who couldn't afford them.

People need to be put in jail, and Congress needs to be cleaned out of those who helped bring us to where we are today. Perhaps such a cleansing would serve as a reminder and a lesson to those who would come after.
